APTC Students get hands on fire experience as part of their training

Oct 21, 2011

For part of their unit "Follow Health, Safety & Security Procedures" Fiji's Rakiraki fire brigade instructed the students on safety procedures, prevention of fire hazards and extinguishing different types of fires. Not only is this part of their studies but, knowledge and experience with fire is a valuable life skill that may prevent tragic loss of life and property.

Thirty Certificate III in Hospitality (Commercial Cookery) and Certificate IV in Hospitality Supervision students from PNG, Samoa, Solomon Islands, Fiji and Tuvalu took part in this practical training session. There is no doubt the high standard of training that APTC delivers will benefit these communities in many ways.

APTC is an Australian Government initiative in partnership with the Pacific and Timor-Leste.

APTC is implemented by TAFE Queensland (RTO 0275)
