Certificate IV in Youth Work

Lenita Aindo is an APTC Alumna from Papua New Guinea (PNG) who believes sharing knowledge is power and that there is joy in giving.

Ms Aindo is the Coordinator Training of Trainers program at the National Youth Development Authority (NYDA) in PNG and works with youths in the community.

“Making a difference for young people through the programs I deliver in communities and seeing them get a paid job and live a normal life motivates me to do more to hear more success stories, “said Ms Aindo.

Before studying at APTC, Ms Aindo worked as the Administration officer at NYDA and was promoted to the Coordinator role after graduating with a Certificate IV in Youth Work (CHC41812) in 2013. Since then, she has also had the opportunity to act in a higher position in 2019, where she performed supervisory duties as Acting Director of Training, Education and Curriculum Development.

Miss Aindo shares that APTC training provided her with knowledge and skills that contributed to her career growth and meeting organisational demands.

“The new role was challenging, so my priority was to read and understand the role and function of our branch. My second priority was to work closely with senior staff members on programs and projects to achieve our organisation’s goal, “she said.

Ms Aindo still finds her job rewarding and explores different ways of delivering training.

“In my new role, I coordinate training programs for our partners to deliver to young people. I take the initiative to introduce new ideas into a program.”

Commitment, honesty and teamwork are three values she emphasises and encourages other APTC Alumni to take on challenges and consider volunteering for community work.

“My advice to current and future students of APTC is to appreciate the knowledge and skills gained at APTC and to prepare yourselves to take challenges on your career path, both in paid and volunteer work. You will surely be recognised for the work that you do,” she said.
