Certificate III in Education Support CHC30213

James Hinge graduated from APTC with a Certificate III in Education Support CHC30213 in 2019. That same year, he landed a job at APTC, Vanuatu, delivering the Education Support program as a Vocational Trainer Assistant (VTA).

“My journey at APTC has impacted me in so many ways. I never considered it a career until I attended APTC and realised this big need for inclusive education in Vanuatu. I am so eager to support the work for inclusive education, specifically in the islands. That is to instil in everyone’s mind that I speak to through formal training or informal sessions; I made it my goal to support this cause.”

With COVID-19 imposing challenges for trainers to reside in Vanuatu, Mr Hinge has been trusted to take a leading role as ground staff in Vanuatu, supporting the Education Support cohort with the supervision of trainer Marlene Organ based in Australia.

“APTC is one of the best learning institutions I’ve ever been in, and I’ve learned a lot from experienced trainers. I am so happy that I can give back and continue to support Ni-Vanuatu in this specific field of Education Support delivered by APTC and funded by the Australian Government.”

Apart from his teaching role at APTC, Mr Hinge delivers training for APTC alumni and utilises his spare time to provide mentorship support for children with special needs.

“We realised we need to upgrade with new ways of teaching and to approach inclusive education in Vanuatu after attending training with Mr Hinge,” said Vanuatu Alumni Chapter Leadership Committee, Vice-Chair, Alice Aissav.

Following his passion for teaching at APTC, James Hinge progressed further to achieve his Certificate IV in Training and Assessment delivered by APTC. The qualification is the minimum requirement to teach or assess accredited programs under the standards for Australian  Registered Training Organisations (RTOs).
