The APTC has country offices established in Fiji, Vanuatu, PNG, Samoa, Solomon Islands and Timor-Leste (since July 2021). The Country Offices are supported by a range of services provided from a Regional Head Office (RHO) located in Suva, Fiji.

The APTC is implemented by TAFE Queensland (RTO 0275) on behalf of the Department of Foreign Affairs and Trade (DFAT).


The role

The Payroll Officer performs timely and accurate processing of wages and salaries for APTC staff across the region, incorporating a variety of deductions and allowances into a periodic payroll system. The focus of the role is to correctly program payroll data, variations and changes in the payroll system in a timely and accurate manner. This position requires a self-motivated person with the knowledge, experience and skills to perform a variety of payroll functions within the legislative requirements of the APTC countries, and with APTC policies and work instructions.

To be successful in this role you must have:

  1. Proven experience in a similar role within a human resource/finance function, preferably using the Pay Global software system and Employee Self-Service System.
  2. Proven experience and knowledge of labour laws relating to payroll, preferably in relation to APTC Countries, and the proven ability to interpret contracts and local employment laws.
  3. Proven ability to work independently, as a team, often under pressure and within a complex work environment; establish priorities, and organise workload in order to meet objectives and tight deadlines; be flexible; maintain confidentiality; and to exercise sound judgement in the development, implementation and application of APTC policies and procedures.
  4. Intermediate or advanced skill level in the use of Microsoft Word, Outlook, Excel, and payroll software systems.
  5. Excellent communication skills and able to work effectively and collaboratively with staff spread across different geographical locations
  6. The ability to complete work in a timely and accurate manner with very strong attention to detail.

Contract duration: Until 30th June 2023


Remuneration – FJD36,373 per annum inclusive of 10% employer superannuation
