The Australia Pacific Training Coalition (APTC) is a centre for training excellence providing Australian standard training qualifications and skills across the Pacific region. As Australia’s flagship Technical and Vocational Education and Training (TVET) investment in the Pacific, APTC works collaboratively with TVET stakeholders to achieve training delivery outcomes and reforms to Pacific TVET systems. The APTC has country offices established in Fiji, Vanuatu, PNG, Samoa, Solomon Islands and Timor-Leste (since July 2021). The Country Offices are supported by a range of services provided from a Regional Head Office (RHO) located in Suva, Fiji.

The APTC is implemented by TAFE Queensland (RTO 0275) on behalf of the Department of Foreign Affairs and Trade (DFAT).


The role

The Communications, Alumni and Events (CAE) Officer will provide support to the country office in the areas of branding and events, media and communication, and alumni as aligned to the APTC Communications Plan.


The CAE Officer has overall responsibility for coordinating events such as graduations and alumni functions in the Pacific Island Forum country and assisting with the provision of branding services in accordance with APTC policies and work instructions.

To be successful in this role you must have:

  1. Tertiary qualification in Journalism or relevant post-secondary qualification and demonstrated experience in a related field.
  2. Sound written and oral communication skills in English.
  3. Demonstrated skills and knowledge in the use of Microsoft Office programs to an advanced level including Word, Outlook and PowerPoint.
  4. Good working knowledge of graphic design software (Adobe Creative Suite) and photography skills.
  5. Demonstrated proficiency in administrative and communication skills and ability to adapt established practices to achieve objectives in a busy and complex work environment.
  6. Experience in establishing priorities, organising high volume workloads, achieving objectives and meeting tight deadlines and ability to work both independently and as part of a small and dedicated team.
  7. Proven ability to exercise sound judgement in the application of existing policies and procedures.

Contract duration: Until 30th June 2023


Remuneration – PGK46,659 per annum, inclusive of 8.4% superannuation.
