They use communication, micro-counselling and interviewing skills and draw on varied counselling therapies to assist clients. At this level, the counsellor will work in defined and supported counselling roles in established agencies rather than in independent practice. Possible career opportunities for graduates include: Counsellor, Support Worker, Case Worker, and Health & Community Care Worker. Graduates of this course will receive an internationally recognised Australian Qualification issued through TAFE Queensland (RTO 0275).  #### Location Fiji #### Delivery Mode Training will be delivered in English, incorporating language, literacy, and numeracy (LLN) support. Students must have reliable internet access and be able to use digital technology to complete the learning and assessment activities and access resources within this program. This can be through their device, internet connection, workplace, or regional APTC campuses. #### Course Fees\* FJD 5,200. The fee includes stationery and uniform. Limited tuition fee waiver places may be available for eligible participants. *\*The Australian Government subsidises the cost of the course including materials and consumables. [View current fees](https://aptc.edu.au/prior-learning-recognition-0?hsLang=en).* ## Course Content CHC51015 Diploma of Counselling will cover the following units of competency. 13 Core Units CHCCSL001 Establish and confirm the counselling relationship CHCCSL002 Apply specialist interpersonal and counselling interview skills CHCCSL003 Facilitate the counselling relationship and process CHCCSL004 Research and apply personality and development theories CHCCSL005 Apply learning theories in counselling CHCCSL006 Select and use counselling therapies CHCCCS019 Recognise and respond to crisis situations CHCCSM005 Develop, facilitate and review all aspects of case management CHCCSL007 Support counselling clients in decision-making processes CHCLEG001 Work legally and ethically CHCDIV001 Work with diverse people CHCDIV002 Promote Aboriginal and/or Torres Strait Islander cultural safety CHCPRP003 Reflect on and improve own professional practice 4 Elective Units CHCDFV001 Recognise and respond appropriately to domestic and family violence CHCMHS001 Work with people with mental health issues CHCCCS017 Provide loss and grief support CHCCSS003 Increase the safety of individuals at risk of suicide ## Entry Requirements 1 #### Citizenship Citizen of a Pacific Island Forum country & Timor-Leste. 2 #### Experience Have significant prior counselling experience (more than one year) or have a local qualification in counselling and limited relevant counselling experience (up to one year). 3 #### Assessment Complete the Literacy and Numeracy Indicator and Vocational Knowledge Assessment. 3 #### Placement It is expected that the student will be working in a paid or voluntary capacity as a counsellor whilst studying. *\*Courses offered, course dates, and fees may vary depending on student and industry demand.* # Request Course Information #### Subscribe to the latest APTC News & Events.
