Growing entrepreneurship in Vanuatu: APTC and Credit Corporation collaborate for APTC Alumni grant scheme

Nov 27, 2019

The Australia Pacific Training Coalition (APTC) and Credit Corporation have formed a partnership to foster entrepreneurship in Vanuatu.

This was confirmed with the signing of a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) on Wednesday 6 November, 2019 at the APTC Office in Port Vila, Vanuatu.

Signed by APTC’s Country Director for Vanuatu and Nauru, Ms Anna Naupa, and Credit Corporation’s Managing Director, Mr Johnny Wilson, the MoU provides a commitment to growing entrepreneurship in Vanuatu through a business grant scheme targeted at APTC alumni, generously financed by Credit Corporation.

Credit Corporation’s sponsorship of VT1 million will support two APTC alumni to set up their businesses.

To benefit from this grant APTC alumni can submit a project proposal detailing their business vision and passion for supporting Vanuatu’s economy. Grant application forms are available from the APTC office. The two best applications will receive the sponsorship.

Expressing her appreciation to Credit Corporation for supporting the initiative, Ms Naupa said the grant scheme will provide much-needed support for developing and supporting business mindsets in Vanuatu.

“APTC welcomes the opportunity to work with Credit Corporation to continue supporting our growing APTC alumni and help them become entrepreneurs. There are more than 2,000 APTC alumni in Vanuatu, and this opportunity will enable them to contribute to a prosperous country,” Ms Naupa said.

Mr Wilson expressed gratitude for the opportunity to fulfill Credit Corporation’s corporate social responsibility in giving the much-needed capital to Vanuatu’s emerging entrepreneurs.

The two successful recipients, receiving VT500,000 each, will be announced during APTC’s 2020 graduation ceremony.

The signing was witnessed by the Australian High Commission’s representative, Ms Susan Kaltovei; APTC’s Operations Manager, Ms Anne Niatu and APTC’s Chapter Leadership Committee Chairperson, Ms Salote Abel.

APTC is an Australian Government initiative in partnership with the Pacific and Timor-Leste.
