The Australia-Pacific Technical College (APTC) has handed over training resources to the National University of Samoa (NUS) to assist the University with its ongoing delivery of the Refrigeration and Air-Conditioning training program.

The total value of the resources, which include large and small equipment as well as consumable items for the repair and installation of refrigeration and air-conditioning appliances, is estimated to be around WST40, 000.

The handover took place on 3 October 2016, between APTC Samoa Country Manager, Ms Patricia Vella, and the NUS Vice-Chancellor, Professor Fui Le’apai Tu’ua Ilaoa Asofou So’o.

Ms Vella said that APTC is confident that the additional training and equipment supplies will provide a much needed injection of resources into this important area of delivery within the NUS technical and vocational education program.

The resources were handed to NUS after APTC changed the delivery location of its Refrigeration and Air-Conditioning training from Samoa to Fiji and Papua New Guinea to meet national industry demand.

Funded by the Australian Government, APTC actively supports the development of educational institutions and training providers in the region, such as NUS.

Currently APTC and NUS share some training facilities and work collaboratively especially in Hospitality, Commercial Cookery and Plumbing to get the best training outcomes for students who undertake studies with both institutions.

The two institutions also have a partnership that enables Certificate III in Health Services Assistance graduates from APTC to further their studies by transferring to a diploma or degree program in Nursing at NUS.
