APTC Carpentry students host open afternoon for construction sector

May 12, 2014

The Australia-Pacific Technical College (APTC) Vanuatu Campus hosted an open afternoon to showcase its Carpentry course. The event was held  at the Vanuatu Institute of Technology (VIT), which partners with APTC in the delivery of the program.

The open afternoon provided an opportunity for 14 students currently studying a Certificate III in Carpentry to display their projects, The Trening Haus, to Vanuatu’s building construction sector. The students constructed The Trening Haus to Australian standards, utilising traditional and contemporary construction methods.

At the event, students and trainers outlined the course content, explained the benefits for students, employers and the industry, and discussed the training requirements of the construction industry.

All qualifications from APTC are recognised by the Australian Qualifications Framework, giving APTC graduates the opportunity to export their skills and find work both regionally and internationally.

APTC is an Australian Government initiative in partnership with the Pacific and Timor-Leste.

APTC is implemented by TAFE Queensland (RTO 0275)
