Diploma Community Services Work celebrates Bula Friday!

Oct 14, 2011

The Suva Campus of the APTC was very excited to welcome and meet the new group of Diploma of Community Services Work students on Monday 1 August 2011. These students have come from PNG, Solomon Islands and Fiji with many years experience in a variety of community settings including social welfare, community health, police and correctional services.

Their trainer Eilleen says that she has been incredibly impressed by the group's maturity and team spirit; "they have all worked together so well and have become wonderful mentors and advocates for some of the younger APTC students in other courses".

The Diploma students like many APTC students, have had to leave family and friends behind in order to work towards their desired qualification, but instead of focusing on the inevitable homesickness, this group has embraced their stay in Fiji already packing a lot into their first few weeks including a student and staff BBQ, table tennis competitions, a very colorful Bula Friday celebration and even a bit of study!

APTC is an Australian Government initiative in partnership with the Pacific and Timor-Leste.

APTC is implemented by TAFE Queensland (RTO 0275)
