As part of their community service and to celebrate World Elder Abuse Awareness Day, APTC alumni in Fiji participated in a workshop hosted by APTC to raise awareness on elder abuse on 31 May in Suva.
More than 25 alumni took the opportunity to learn more about elder abuse issues during the workshop which was facilitated by APTC Individual Support Trainers, Sandy O'Brien and Margaret Bulivorovoro.
Alumni in Suva also came out in large numbers, on 15 June, to take part in a march in support of our elders to mark World Elder Abuse Awareness Day. The march was a collaboration between APTC, the Ministry of Women, Children and Poverty Alleviation and the Fiji National Council of Older Persons.
The alumni also cleaned the Samabula Senior Citizen’s Home in Suva and provided a light lunch for the residents on 17 June.
The APTC Alumni Fiji Chapter which takes on community initiatives every year, was delighted to be part of the celebrations and is excited to conduct similar activities in the near future.
